I’m not sure if anyone even still checks this since obviously no one writes in it anymore. Sorry about that. I’ve been busy. Plus, my life is probably not very interesting to anyone but myself. I go to school, I go to work, I go to Hereford, and I hang out at my apartment doing either a) reading political science b) eating c) sleeping d) showering or e) doing either step aerobics, the Firm, or Taebo. Please notice that I did not list the option of watching TV. That is because I do not have cable. I think I get about 3 different channels that are very hard to make out. Surprisingly though, the sound is very good. Who needs to see what they are watching? Although I do have two seasons of the Gilmore Girls on DVD, so I guess I can watch that whenever I want. Jealous? Yeah, I thought so. I also do not have the internet. Although, I am very good at borrowing others….

This past weekend I made the journey to Hereford for the second weekend in a row to celebrate Jay and Holli’s wedding. The weekend before was the bachelorette party. Wine + panties + cucumbers + penis mints + dancing = a good party. The guys went to Dallas for their little shindig…and from what I hear it was pretty lame. Rangers game + Dicks Last Resort + golf = boring. I prefer the penis party. Sorry boys.

The wedding was fun…sooo soo much fun. Holli was gorgeous along with the rest of the bridesmaids. Especially you Amber….rawr. ;) The wedding was short and sweet. Kris and I were lucky to sit next to a man with an angelic voice. I recall there being two songs that he participated in that made me speechless. He would not sing a word until it got to the high notes and then he would sing right along. Please note that one of the songs he sang along with was by Faith Hill. Needless to say, my shoulder shaking started and I had to try my hardest not to burst out laughing. Kris was not much help in the matter. The reception was pretty entertaining. Kris impressed me with his moves all night long. I’m not even sure there are names for the moves he was doing. Let’s just say that all the girls wanted him, even the married girls. At least this is what he told me. You might get the impression that he is cocky or conceited….and you are right. The only disappointing moment was that the DJ did not have the song Shout. What DJ doesn’t have the Shout?? So strange and so disappointing. I really think Kris could have reached his potential during that song.

Also, some more things that are worth noting….. Tech won this Saturday against Eastern Washington. Maybe not the most exciting game, but we won. Yay. I saw a girl today with extremely hairy legs and I thought that was very interesting. I also saw a guy not too long ago wearing a camo skirt down to his knees, a shirt tucked into it, a black belt, some sandals, and a fishing hat. Kind of strange, but whatever works for him. Ummm….I also saw a guy riding his bike on campus that hit a curb and flew off of his bike onto the ground about 10 feet from me. Thank goodness he was wearing that helmet. He might want to consider knee pads and wrist guards from now on.

That’s all I’ve got for now. I’ll write again in 2 months.

Traveling...by myself

Normally I love to travel.  I love to go different places.  It's nice to get out of Hereford every once in awhile.  But my travels yesterday just made me wish I could just go back to the ol' beef capital of the world.

About a month ago the head of my department at school asked me if I wanted to go to a conference in Austin.  Free trip to Austin???  Sure.  Of course I knew that I would be traveling by myself but I really didn't think much of it.  Here are a few reasons that made me wish I would have thought twice:
  1. I got to the Amarillo airport at about 4:30 for my flight at 5:20 to find that it had been delayed to 6:35.  Two hours extra of sitting at the gate....not so big a deal.
  2. I was flying southwest and of course had not checked in early so my boarding pass was B 15...not too bad but not good enough to get a window seat.   I entered the already very full plane looking for any friendly face to sit by.  Finally I come to a nice looking couple, probably in their late 30's maybe early 40's.  While getting situated they smiled at me and the man said I had a "cute bag."  At this point I am feeling pretty good about my choice of seats.  Then I notice that the lady has here shoes off and has her legs draped across the mans lap....interesting, but not too much to bare.  Before the plane even begins moving to the runway I realize that I have made a very big mistake.....they are talking quietly to each other and kissing every few words!!!  Loud smacking kisssing!  Did they do this the entire 1 hour 5 minute flight....YES they did!  I just tried to bury myself in my book and try not to hear the smacking.  I get sick to my stomach on planes as it is without being completely grossed out by loud PDA.  I was unbelievably relieved to arrive in Dallas.
  3. After running out of the first plane I looked at the board to see where my connecting flight was and I see that it is already boarding.  In a panic I run to the gate to see the man closing the door.  He apologizes that I had to hurry knowing that my first flight was late.  No big deal...I'm ok now.
  4. This time I am a little wiser in picking my seat.  I find a lady sitting all by herself by the window and I take the aisle seat.  A few minutes later a man asks if he can sit in the empty seat so I scoot over and let him have the aisle.  Keep in my mind I am really into the book I am reading.  I am pumped because I think I am going to get to really concentrate on it instead of what is going on around me.  I promise you, this man insists on talking to me all the way to Austin.  I have my book open, on my lap, staring at it as he talks and talks and talks...  I'm still not sure how he didn't know that I really wanted to read instead of talk about his trip today, wind farms, his friend who teaches some sort of space class in Fredricksburg.   Oh well, I can be nice.  (On a side note I did meet a guy on the plane who was from Springlake, tx which is connected to Earth, where Josh was a youth minister for a couple years.  I also met a lady who was from Olton where Josh is from.  Maybe a sign that Josh should have been with me on this trip...I don't know)
  5. I arrive in Austin at about 9:00 and luckily my luggage has arrived with me.  The way this trip is going I wouldn't have been surprised if they accidentally sent it to Beijing.  Anyways, I realize while getting my luggage that I need cash if I am going to take a taxi to the hotel.  I find an ATM and realize that I don't know what my pin is.  It's been a long time since I have used my debit card.  I call Josh and he reminds me what it is but for some reason the machine will not accept it.  I am standing in the Austin airport all by myself about to cry.   I feel a panic coming over me...and what do I do, I call Josh.    He reminds me that the lady had said I could take a taxi or call 1800bluevan.  Thank goodness!! The nice man on the phone directed me to the super shuttle counter which is open 24 hours and i finally made it safely to my hotel.
Everthing since arriving at the hotel has been great.  The conference is great, the workout room was very nice, the room service is really great.  But really, I am just hoping that tomorrow, when I go home, I have a much better experience.  This might be my last trip by myself.

Vagi....

Hi. Hi. Hi-ness. Hi. (only Jennifer and C.J. Wilson know what that means.)

Today I drove to Breckenridge, Texas to go to Walmart. I shopped for the few things that I needed. When I was finished shopping, I went to the checkout line because that's what you do. When it was my turn to checkout, I started searching through my purse to find my wallet (my purse is HUGE by the way.) Well, as I was pulling out my wallet I guess a certain feminine product got stuck on it and fell out on to the counter (and no, I'm not talking about a tampon...it is way, way worse.) It then proceeded to fall on the floor. The cashier and man behind me just watched as I franticly tried to redeem the fallen object and put it back into the security of my purse. Yep. That's what happened to me today.

My boyfriend is best friends with C.J. Wilson.

First Blog

I have spent my summer reading every blog that I could get my hands on.  This is a new addiction that I have acquired since I have had way to much time on my hands.  It started out innocent, just curious, checking out the blog world.   Now I check several blogs everyday...and I'm embarrassed to admit sometimes more than once a day.  Josh has of course noticed my addiction and last night asked...."So you're a blog reader, not a blog writer?"  I just don't feel like that I have enough interesting things happen to me that I could keep a blog all to myself.  So I have enlisted the help of my best friend and sister to help me create an interesting blog.  I guess we'll see...now I just have to hope that I'm not the "boring" writer.  -Amber

The first day of our first blog!

So as you can see, Amber Light, myself Jennifer Buccola, and Lacey Husmann all decided, randomly today July 31, 2008, that we will begin our first blog all together. Why do you ask yourself all together? Well let us tell you... Amber is pretty obsessed when it comes to reading other people's blogs; therefore her husband Josh Light asked why don't you just make one yourself? So today she decided to do that and talk myself into doing it as well. the reason she did not want to start one is because she does not like to type i don't think therefore i'm doing the first typing for our first blog and she also thought that no one would really find her life alone that interesting so now i'm apart of it. Now, your wondering how Lacey got apart of our blog... well we simply asked her to join and spice it up even more. you put all of our lives together and it will certainly be interesting than just one of our lives!!
